Important Tips:

• Tipping is customary for good service.
• During weekday rush hours - mornings (6:00a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) and afternoons (3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.) and on weekends (Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m) - there is an additional $10.00 surcharge for all points in the State of New York.
• It is unlawful for an owner or driver of a taxicab to charge or cause to be charged, except as hereinafter provided, a greater sum for the use of a cab than in accordance with the rate schedule of fares for service from Newark Liberty International Airport when conveying one or more persons (in the same group) to any point in any municipality in New Jersey other than those specified in special areas and to any point in New York City, excluding tolls.
• Round trip tolls are not included in quoted fare.
• There is an additional $1.00 charge for each piece of baggage over 24 inches.
• There is a 10% senior citizen discount (62 years and older) upon presentation of proper identification.
• $1.75 PANYNJ per-trip Airport Access Fee will apply for pick-ups only.
• Please take your receipt from the taxi dispatcher and retain for your record’s.
• The local taxi commissions automatically add a surcharge to all credit card transactions.

Taxi, Car, and Van Service

For-Hire-Vehicle Trips

Effective April 5, 2021

$2.50 per-trip airport access fee is applied to all for-hire vehicle (e.g. Uber, Lyft, etc.) drop-offs and pick-ups. There is a $1.25 discount applied to will apply for pooled rides.

Taxi Trips

$1.75 PANYNJ per-trip Airport Access Fee will apply for pick-ups only.

Effective January 5, 2025, your trip may be subject to an additional fee for the MTA’s NYC Congestion Pricing Program.

Due to construction, customers travelling into Lower Manhattan between 10:30 PM and 5:00 AM, will have to utilize alternative river crossings for the return trip to New Jersey. A surcharge of $5.00 will apply.

* There is an additional $5 charge for all destinations on the East Side of Manhattan between Battery Park and 145th St.

Car and Van Service

There are convenient self-service kiosks at the Port Authority Welcome Center located on the Arrivals level of each terminal nearby where you can contact authorized shared-ride or private car services.

Car Rental

Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Sixt, and Thrifty can be found in the consolidated Rental Car Center located on levels 1 through 3 within the Parking A Garage.

Flying into Terminals B and C

• Follow signs to the AirTrain;
• take the AirTrain to Terminal A AirTrain Station; and
• walk approximately 10 minutes (0.2 miles) to the rental car center via a covered walkway.

Flying into Terminal A

• follow signs to to Level 2 Mezzanine; and
• walk approximately 7 minutes (0.1 miles) across the pedestrian bridge to access rental car returns.

Vehicles equipped with hand controls may be also available. Please contact the car rental companies directly regarding availability, reservations and costs.

Paying for tolls when using a rental car

Check with your rental car agency to learn about their company policy for paying tolls. Some rental car companies provide E-ZPass® transponder tags. In those cases, be sure you understand how to use the transponders and learn about any fees or charges. Fees vary among rental car companies regarding unpaid tolls, so it is important to find out the specifics in advance.

If your rental car company does not provide a transponder, or if you do not want to use a rental car company tag, you have two options:

• Pay the toll using cash
• Pay the toll using your own E-ZPass® transponder

If you have an E-ZPass® account, and decide to use your own transponder, we do NOT recommend adding the rental car license plate number to your account.
